A STRONG WIND IS NOW IN FORCE FOR ALL OF TONGA LAND AREAS.
SITUATION
A low pressure system from the west is developing and expected to approach Tonga by later tonight. Associated clouds, heavy occasional rain, thunderstorms with gusty winds will affect the Group until Saturday.

Moderate east to northeast winds, fresh to strong at times.
Becoming cloudy with occasional rain later tonight.

FOR VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Moderate east to northeast winds fresh to strong at times.
Cloudy with occasional showers.

THE STRONG WIND WARNING WAS PREVIOUSLY IN FORCE FOR TELE-KI-TONGA AND TELE-KI-TOKELAU COASTAL WATERS HAS BEING UPGRADED TO GALE WARNING.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE NIUAS, VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA COASTAL.

A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL OF TONGA COASTAL WATERS.

FOR TELE-KI-TONGA AND TELE-KI-TOKELAU COASTAL WATERS:
Southeast wind 25-30 knots then gust up to 40-45 knots at times.
Very rough seas (up to 5 metres). Poor visibilities due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

FOR THE REST OF TONGA COASTAL WATERS:
East to northeast winds 15-20 knots, rising up to 25-30 knots at times.
Moderate seas (up to 3 metres).
